Ellen McKey joined the Institute of International Education (IIE) in January 2007 as Director of Foreign Fulbright Programs, then served as Vice President of the Student Exchanges Department before being named as Chief, Innovation and Knowledge Management (IKM). IIE’s IKM team works to promote a culture of knowledge sharing and creative solutioning throughout IIE and with our clients and partners so to deliver highest quality services to all program stakeholders. Ellen oversees the centralized management of critical systems that support our program work, thus allowing IIE to streamline and increase efficiency of operations. Ellen’s team also works to identify cutting-edge technologies and innovations that enable IIE to offer the most current, industry-leading solutions for our clients and program participants.
Prior to coming to IIE, Ellen worked for 12 years as Director of Fellowships and Grants at the American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) where she oversaw cultural and educational exchanges between the U.S. and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden for graduate and post-graduate-level scholars. Before ASF, in addition to teaching and writing, Ellen coordinated study abroad programs to Germany at Rutgers University and assisted with academic tours to Germany, France, and Switzerland.
