We welcome you to IIE’s kickoff event for the Generation Study Abroad International Symposium Series. Miami-Dade College will host our inaugural Generation Study Abroad Symposium in the U.S. at their InterAmerican campus on Friday, April 6, 2018.
During this half-day event we will convene our Commitment Partners and industry professionals in the region to engage in solution-driven and action-oriented dialogue to push the envelope on how we think and "do" study abroad as we work together to achieve our ambitious goal of doubling by the end of the decade and to address the significant value and growing interest and intersection of study abroad, global talent and workforce development.
We are pleased to have Dr. Malou Harrison, President of Miami Dade College’s InterAmerican Campus welcome us, as well as have Mr. Mike Finney, President and CEO of The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, to be our keynote speaker! View speaker profiles.

Roundtable Session - Study Abroad Matters: Linking Higher Education to the Contemporary Workplace through International Experience
Given current challenges higher education faces associated with rising cost, recruitment and retention, and now ensuring graduate’s employability, this roundtable will bring together international education and industry professionals to expand the conversation of the value of study abroad to employability for U.S. students and graduates. With the newly published white paper, Study Abroad Matters: Linking Higher Education to the Contemporary Workplace through International Experience, a part of the Global Education Research Reports supported by the AIFS Foundation and IIE, and follow up to the IIE Center for Academic Mobility Research and Impact October 2017 release of Gaining an Employment Edge: The Impact of Study Abroad on 21st Century Skills & Career Prospects in the United States, the conversation will be centered around the content, trends and recommendations identified in these reports and strategies that higher education professionals and industry professionals can strengthen the linkage.
