O. Temple Sloan, Jr. Founder’s Scholarship Program

The O. Temple Sloan Jr. Founder's Scholarship Program was established in honor of the Founder and Chairman of General Parts International, Inc. This scholarship provides an opportunity for dependent children (biological, legally adopted, step-child, or grandchild) of full-time or part-time employees of Advance Auto Parts or an Advance Auto Parts subsidiary in a position below the vice president level to receive awards for full-time study at an accredited post-secondary institution of their choice.   


Eligibility

All dependent children (biological, legally adopted, step-child, or grandchild) of a full-time or part-time employee of Advance Auto Parts or an Advance Auto Parts subsidiary in a position below the vice president level are eligible to apply for an award. Applicants must not be older than 25 years old as of December 31st of the year prior to the year the grant is to take effect. Applicants must be a high school senior OR a student with at least one semester of studies remaining until graduation. In addition, applicants must be pursuing, as a full-time or part-time student, a degree at  an educational institution that: a) provides an educational program that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor's or higher degree (e.g. a college or university), or offers a program of training to prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation, and b) is authorized under federal or state law to provide such a program and is accredited by a nationally recognized accreditation agency (or equivalent outside the U.S.).


Scholarship

Following a merit-based selection process, the following scholarships will be awarded to this year’s top applicants: Renewable Scholarships of up to $2,500 and One-time Non-Renewable Scholarships of up to $5,000

If a recipient is awarded a one-time non-renewable scholarship, the recipient may reapply for a scholarship for a subsequent year as a new applicant.  If a recipient is awarded a renewable scholarship, their award shall be renewed annually up to the completion of the first degree provided the grantee maintains satisfactory academic progress.
