IIE Names New Mexico City Director

NEW YORK and MEXICO CITY, March 4, 2015—Philippa Nuttall, a higher education expert with over 20 years of management experience in the higher education, nonprofit, and business sectors, as well as extensive experience in Mexico and the region, has been named the new IIE Mexico City Director.  Ms. Nuttall took up her position with IIE on February 17th and will oversee IIE’s operations in Mexico.

Ms. Nuttall previously served as Director of Development for Fundación UNAM (the foundation of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), Mexico’s largest public university. In that position, she oversaw the design and implementation of a highly effective fundraising and donor engagement strategy and developed a media campaign that was recognized with an Effie Social award. Prior to that, as Director of Strategic Planning and Institutional Development for the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Ms. Nuttall spearheaded an institution-wide re-branding campaign including the restructure of student recruitment and the development of an external communications strategy.  On the commercial side, as Director of Technology Training Mexico, a US professional training firm, she developed the operation into the corporation´s biggest profit center worldwide and launched operations in five Latin American markets.

Most recently, Ms. Nuttall has been providing consulting services to a variety of clients, including Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión, for which she oversaw their application for accreditation in the United States. Ms. Nuttall holds an MSc in Poverty Reduction and Development and a BA in Latin American studies.

Since the 1970s, IIE’s Mexico City office has provided educational opportunities to disadvantaged sectors of society, and has helped train current and future leaders in a wide range of fields vital to the region’s economic growth and technical needs.
