IIE works with corporations, established businesses, law firms, research institutes, museums, libraries, post-secondary accredited educational institutions and similar types of host organizations to sponsor international individuals who conduct research, lecture, observe, or consult in programs lasting from 3 weeks to 5 years.
The primary purpose of the J-1 programs in these categories is to foster the exchange of ideas between Americans and foreign nationals, to stimulate international collaborative research efforts, and to share specialized skills.
Academic Program Application
For programs in the Research Scholar, Professor, Short-term Scholar, Specialist and College and University Student/Student non-degree categories. Exchange visitors in these categories research, lecture, study, observe and/or demonstrate special skill or knowledge.
- Research Scholar, Professor & Short-term Scholar: For professors, researchers, post-/pre-doc, graduate students, doctors, attorneys (or similar) to lecture, observe, research or consult in connection with research project. Up to 5-year duration.
