IIE Scholarship Program for Syrian Students
The Institute of International Education (IIE) is pleased to announce the IIE Scholarship Program for Syrian Students. This scholarship opportunity will provide Syrian students with the unique opportunity to continue their academic studies, experience life in the United States, and develop a network of peers in their U.S. host communities.
Administered as part of IIE’s Syria Consortium for Higher Education in Crisis, IIE will partner with accredited U.S. higher education institutions that commit to full tuition waivers to support qualified Syrian students. The IIE scholarship will provide up to $50,000 to cover students’ living expenses.

Call for Scholarship Commitments
The IIE Syria Consortium encourages universities to commit to providing scholarships for Syrian students for the 2017 academic year. Interested institutions should fill out IIE’s host institution and scholarship form. IIE strongly recommends full tuition scholarships or full tuition waivers for Syrian students. Students interested in these scholarship opportunities will then apply directly to the university.

For Syrian Students
If you are interested in applying for one of the 2017 Syria Consortium scholarship opportunities, please visit the "Find Scholarships" website. Each university will run their own admissions process and will have a separate timeline. There are some opportunities that may be available for spring 2017 and others that may be available for fall 2017. Each university will have their own admission criteria (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, SAT). To apply, you must follow the instructions posted on the online portal. For questions, please reach out to the institutional contact. Please make sure to check these scholarship listings carefully for fields of study, application requirements, and instructions on how to apply. In most cases, to apply you will be required to apply via the university's own application for international students.
The IIE Emergency Student Fund (ESF) periodically offers grants to Syrian students on U.S. campuses. These grants help students to address their urgent financial needs and stay enrolled in their U.S. degree programs. If you are a Syrian student already in the U.S., visit the ESF program website for more information. Please note that ESF is ONLY available to students residing in the U.S.

About Syria Scholarships
The crisis in Syria has created an academic emergency, with the break-down of higher education within the country and major obstacles facing Syrian students and scholars. In response, IIE is leading a consortium of 60 higher education institutions around the world that have committed support for Syrian students and scholars, primarily in the form of full and partial scholarships.
