Established in 1919 with the founding premise that international exchange could make the world a more interconnected place, the Institute of International Education has championed international education and pioneered new models of collaboration across institutions of higher education with a worldwide reach. Today, IIE proudly supports flagship educational and cultural exchange programs on behalf of the U.S. Departments of State and Defense, in addition to government, corporate and foundation programs. IIE is proud to assist scholars, students and artists threatened by conflict and unrest in their home countries.

14 Universities Welcome PDPI Brazilian English Teachers to the USA

This July, the Institute of International Education (IIE) and 14 university partners are excited to welcome nearly 500 Brazilian public-school English teachers to the USA for PDPI, a 6-week professional development program. PDPI (Programa de Desenvolvimento Profissional para Professores de Lingua Inglesa nos EUA) makes up part of the Brazilian government’s strategic plan to improve English language teaching and teacher training in all states of Brazil. It is funded by the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES) and administered by IIE and the Brazilian Fulbright Commission.

IIE Awards the 2019 Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace to Leaders of Road to Recovery

IIE awarded the 15th annual $10,000 IIE Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace in the Middle East to Yuval Roth and Naeem Al-Baeda, an Israeli and Palestinian who have joined together to lead Road to Recovery (RtR), an organization of volunteers who drive Palestinians, mostly children, from their homes in the West Bank or Gaza to hospital appointments in Israel for urgent medical treatments that are not available in their home communities.
