Help Displaced and Refugee Students Pursue Higher Education

According to the UNHCR, an unprecedented 70.8 million people are forcibly displaced worldwide. Among them thousands of university-aged youth looking for opportunities to continue their higher education. Despite the great benefits of a quality education for displaced populations, education in emergencies remains one of the most underfunded sectors in humanitarian aid with higher education often considered as a luxury rather than a necessity.

Today, only 3% of the world’s refugees attend university, compared to the global average of 37%.

IIE’s Student Emergency Initiatives support the UNHCR target of providing 15% of all refugees with access to higher education by 2030.

With your support we can achieve this ambitious goal! Together we can empower displaced and refugee students and help them rebuild their lives and their communities.

To make a gift for refugee and displaced students, select “Other” as your gift designation on the form below. When prompted, enter “PEER.”
