Preparing International Students For the Visa Application Process

IIE hosted a call with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) to discuss what students must know about applying for a visa to study in the United States and how U.S. campus staff can best advise them. U.S. officials outlined the visa issuance processes, discussed recent trends in student mobility, and provided guidance on how U.S. higher education professionals can support international students interested in studying in the United States. IIE’s President and CEO, Dr. Allan Goodman, moderated the call with speakers Laura Stein, U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs, and Alfred Boll, U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
