November 1, 2017 November 15, 2010

On November 15, 2010, the Institute of International Education released the latest statistics and trends on international students in the United States and U.S. students studying abroad. The Open Doors findings were the topic of a briefing  at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, with Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Ann Stock, in conjunction with the worldwide observance of International Education Week.  See video clips and a slideshow from the Open Doors briefing at the National Press Club below.

Assistant Secretary of State Ann Stock and IIE president Allan Goodman also held a roundtable discussion with members of the Chinese media, representing television, radio and print publications, at the State Department’s Foreign Press Center (pictured above right).

In India, IIE held a briefing in New Delhi on U.S.-India educational exchange with the U.S. Embassy and the U.S. India Education Foundation. And IIE worked with U.S. Embassy and EducationUSA officers around the world to communicate about the importance of educational exchange, and release the new bilateral statistics.

On the websiteOpen Doors, you can access the new data from Open Doors 2010, the annual report on student mobility, as well as press releases and background information to help explain the trends. Open Doors contains extensive data and analysis on numbers of foreign students and scholars on U.S. campuses and American students studying abroad, and is supported by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

On the Open Doors page, you can also access the results of a Fall 2010 International Enrollment survey that IIE conducted jointly with seven other major higher education organizations, and a Fall 2010 Study Abroad survey that IIE conducted with the Forum on Education Abroad.
