Gothenburg, Sweden, September 10, 2025 — Dr. Allan E. Goodman, president emeritus of the Institute of International Education (IIE), today received the European Association for International Education (EAIE) President’s Award at the association’s annual conference. The award recognizes individuals and organizations whose vision, dedication, and actions have made a lasting impact on the field of international education. Each year, EAIE honors those who have gone above and beyond to foster connection, innovation, and progress.
As President Emeritus of the Institute of International Education (IIE), Dr. Goodman has shaped the global landscape of academic exchange, championing initiatives that promote peace, knowledge, and mutual understanding. Under his 28 years of leadership, IIE became a beacon of opportunity, rescuing scholars in crisis, administering the Fulbright Program, and supporting mobility for thousands across borders. A respected voice on international advisory boards and an advocate for transatlantic collaboration, his efforts have empowered generations of students and scholars worldwide.
“Receiving the EAIE President’s Award is one of the highest honours of my career — and to receive it in Sweden feels like winning the Nobel Prize for International Education. This recognition would not be possible without the leadership, vision, and dedication of EAIE and its remarkable members,” Goodman said in a statement.
