Medtronic Spark Scholarship Empowers Future Health Tech Leaders

Up to 100 Scholarships Will Be Awarded to Talented Students Around the World Each Year

New York, November 21, 2025 — Medtronic Spark is a bold 10-year initiative to empower the next generation of health tech leaders. The Medtronic Spark Scholarship is a global program designed to support students from low-income households who are pursuing careers in health technology and related fields. Each year, up to 100 new scholarships will be awarded to talented students globally.

Key benefits of the Medtronic Spark Scholarship include:

  • Financial support for education expenses, renewable for up to four years
  • Career-building experiences, including mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities
  • Emergency funding to help students overcome unexpected financial hardships

Job growth in healthcare is expected to outpace most other occupations over the next decade, placing a greater demand for post-secondary education. The Medtronic Spark Scholarship aims to provide critically needed funding to empower students to attend educational programs enabling them to obtain a health tech job.

“The Medtronic Spark Scholarship is more than financial aid—it’s a catalyst for opportunity and shaping the future of healthcare,” said Jason Czyz, President of IIE. “IIE is proud to administer this bold new program that will invest in students who are passionate about improving health outcomes in communities. We are honored to have been entrusted by Medtronic and the Medtronic Foundation to help bring it to life.”

The scholarship is open to students pursuing associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and job-ready credentials (or global equivalents) in health tech and healthcare-related fields. Applicants must demonstrate academic potential and leadership capabilities and attend educational programs in one of the eligible countries.

“Our goal is to inspire and equip students with the skills and education they need to launch a meaningful career in health tech,” said Liz Lund, Senior Director of Philanthropy at the Medtronic Foundation. “The Medtronic Spark Scholarship assists students throughout their educational journey, providing enriching career-ready experiences and addressing unexpected hardships when they arise. This isn’t just about providing a one-time financial boost – we’re focused on supporting students all the way through graduation.”
