Medtronic Spark Scholarship

Scholarship

The Medtronic Spark Scholarship is designed for students who demonstrate academic potential and leadership capabilities, who are pursuing associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees and/or job-ready credentials (and global equivalents) in health tech and healthcare related fields. It is available to students from low-income households across the globe who live in eligible locations. 

The Medtronic Spark Scholarship program aims to change the trajectory of recipients’ lives, with a goal of improving college graduation rates and early career success. Scholarship recipients are eligible for financial support to meet education expenses (renewable for up to four years) and career-building experiences which may include Medtronic mentorship, coaching, networking support, and more.  

The application will open in November 2025 with an application deadline: January 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM Central Time (US).

Scholarship Benefits

The Medtronic Spark Scholarship offers the following: 

  • Scholarship Funds: Funding of up to USD$15,000 (in the U.S.) or up to USD$10,000 (outside of the U.S.) per year, renewable for the duration of the degree* (up to 4 years); credential programs are one-time non-renewable awards.  
  • Emergency Funds: Opportunity to apply for additional funding for emergency needs during the scholarship period (for example, unexpected medical expenses, food insecurity, housing instability, transportation disruptions, etc.).
  • Student Supports: Participation in a virtual kick-off session and check-ins with IIE academic advisors. 
  • Mentorship, Career Panels, Networking: Engagement with Medtronic employees in person and virtually through mentorship, career panels and other networking opportunities. 

*This scholarship is renewable if eligibility requirements continue to be met. 

This scholarship is designed to cover the remaining cost of a student’s education after all other sources of funding, such as federal/state government grants, institutional aid, and private scholarships, have been applied. The Medtronic Spark Scholarship can be used to cover the remaining cost of tuition and fees, room and board, books, supplies, and equipment required for education programs.  

Payment of Awards 

Scholarship payments will be made directly to the academic institution. Payments to individuals may only happen in extenuating circumstances and require IIE and Medtronic Foundation’s approval.
