What is Brazil Science Without Borders?
The Brazilian government's new Science Without Borders Program will provide scholarships to undergraduate students from Brazil for one year of study at colleges and universities in the United States. Scholarships will be given primarily to students in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Students in the program will return to Brazil to complete their degrees.This program, administered by IIE, is part of the Brazilian government's larger initiative to grant 100,000 scholarships for the best students from Brazil to study abroad at the world’s best universities.

Who is eligible?
Undergraduate students from Brazil may apply for the Science Without Borders Program scholarship beginning August 31, 2011.

How to Apply?
In partnership with CAPES, the Brazilian federal agency for the Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education, IIE will administer the placement of undergraduate Science without Borders students.
Candidates must first be nominated by their Brazilian institutions of higher education. Nominees' names will then be forwarded to CAPES, which will perform the selection process. IIE will then place the selected candidates in the U.S. institutions of higher education chosen by CAPES to host Science without Borders participants.
Students interested in participating in the Science without Borders program should complete the Common Application. Neither students nor their home institutions in Brazil should contact IIE directly; nor is it necessary to contact the desired U.S. host institution.
U.S. institutions wishing to host a grantee should complete the Host Institution Application.
