IIE Announces Donation Match to Help More Students Impacted by COVID-19 Crisis

Emergency Student Fund COVID Response

NEW YORK, May 12, 2021 – IIE expands its effort to support international college students in the U.S. who have been adversely affected by the pandemic. In response to the current surge of COVID-19 cases that is devastating communities in India and beyond, IIE is committing an additional $100,000 to help students from India now at U.S. colleges and universities.

Because of the severity and duration of this crisis, the number of students needing help continues to far outweigh the number we can support. A generous group of donors has provided over $110,000 in a match challenge for all new gifts directed to students impacted by COVID-19. All gifts to IIE’s Emergency Student Fund will be matched, up to $112,000, to ensure that donations go twice as far to help more students.

Make a gift to IIE’s Emergency Student Fund, and your impact will be DOUBLED to support even more students.

Since last March, IIE’s Emergency Student Fund has provided over $2.2 million in grants to more than 1,000 international students affected by the pandemic, with the most recent round of funding reaching students in April 2021. When international students receive support, they are able to pay for tuition costs, basic living needs, and medical fees.

IIE’s long history of providing emergency aid to students — and our expansive network — allows us to quickly direct support when a crisis arises. Helping these students during these critical times is usually all that stands between students continuing their education or dropping out.

Please join IIE to help students when they need us most. All gifts, in any amount, are welcome.
