Lewin is widely known for generating dramatic growth in study abroad, including among underrepresented groups; designing and implementing innovative study abroad programming centered around global citizenship and professional development; developing and executing forward thinking international education programming involving technology; leading universities in developing effective and distinctive global strategies; writing and speaking widely on various international education topics. He is the editor of The Handbook of Practice and Research in Study Abroad: Higher Education and the Quest for Global Citizenship. Lewin earned his B.A. in politics and literature from the University of California Santa Cruz and his M.A. and his Ph.D. in German studies from Stanford University.
