As the new academic year begins, IIE’s Scholar Rescue Fund (SRF) celebrates the courageous and talented IIE-SRF fellows who are pursuing their academic work at host institutions across the globe. We also commend our dedicated host partners who offer safe haven and academic homes to scholars facing persecution and the devastating effects of conflict. With more threatened and displaced scholars today than ever before, these partnerships are as critical as ever.

50 IIE-SRF fellows from 13 countries are currently teaching or researching at 45 host partner institutions in 14 countries worldwide. Over half of these hosts are welcoming their first IIE-SRF fellows, joining a community of more than 375 higher education institutions in 43 countries where, for the last 15 years, 725 scholars have found safe haven through generous partnerships with IIE-SRF.
IIE-SRF formalizes an unwavering commitment that IIE has demonstrated for nearly a century to preserve the lives, voices, and ideas of scholars around the globe. IIE-SRF fellowships support visiting appointments for threatened scholars to continue their work in safety at partnering academic institutions worldwide. At the heart of IIE-SRF is the idea that each scholar we help who continues his or her work in safety is a beacon of hope in our world.
Since 2002, IIE-SRF has assisted 725 scholars from 58 countries, placing them at more than 375 host partner institutions in 43 countries around the world.
