Yidan Prize Summit 2017 | Dec. 10 – 11, 2017 at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong
It is time for us to rethink who we are educating, how we are educating them, and why we are educating them the way we are. We need to rethink the outcomes we expect. – Mr. Charles Chen Yidan
On December 10, 2017 in Hong Kong, the Yidan Prize Summit will convene a community of over 200 stakeholders at the highest level--from across government, business, academia, international organizations and NGOs--to uncover the challenges of today’s education for successful transition to a new era of human-machine interdependence.
Speaking at the recent Times Higher Education Innovation & Impact Summit, Charles talked about how technology may bring opportunities and challenges for the world’s education and how a multi-stakeholder dialogue can help facilitate a successful transition of education development across the globe.
Since the Yidan Prize was launched last year, Charles Chen and the Foundation have visited Europe, Americas, Asia and other continents to encourage nominations for the Yidan Prize. Now, the nomination period is closed. While the winners will be announced in September, a ceremony will be held alongside the Yidan Prize Summit in December.

It was founded in 2016 by Charles Chen Yidan of Tencent Holdings Limited (above) to create a better world through education. The initiative will recognize outstanding individuals or teams and fund education initiatives across the world through impact investment, with annual awards of HK$60 million (about US$7.6 million). The Prize is financed and governed by a HK$2.5 billion (about US$320 million) trust, the Yidan Prize Foundation. See Yidan Prize.
