Artist Protection Fund Symposium and Performance Event

The University of Manchester will host a half-day event featuring the work of three Artist Protection Fund (APF) Fellows and foster dialogues about art, freedom of expression, and activism.

APF Fellows whose work will be presented at the event include Zimbabwean playwright and activist Silvanos Mudzvova; Iranian musician, producer, singer and songwriter Farzane Zamen; and Iraqi filmmaker Roua Alazzawi.


In addition, the event will feature a panel on Art and Sanctuary and a performance of Psychosis, a new play by Mudzvova. APF Head Alison Russo will speak at the event and on the panel.

The Artist Protection Fund (APF) is an Institute of International Education program supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. APF distributes fellowship grants to threatened artists from any field of artistic endeavor and places them at host universities and art centers in safe countries where they can continue their work.
