IIE Delegation to Sudan

October 28, 2018 Khartoum

The Institute of International Education’s Center for International Partnerships is pleased to be leading a historic U.S. higher education delegation to Sudan to explore opportunities to create new academic partnerships and strengthen existing ones. In collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Sudan and the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum, IIE will be holding a higher education partnership workshop in Khartoum from October 28 – November 1, 2018 that currently includes cultural activities and site visits to Sudanese universities.

All in-country expenses will be supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, however U.S. institutions are required to book and cover their own international flights. The application to join this delegation is now open.

Applications are due by July 20th and will be reviewed based on timeliness of submission and the potential for developing partnerships with Sudanese counterparts. Please note that the number of total U.S. participants is subject to change. For further inquiries, please contact Clare Overmann at covermann@iie.org

IIE held a webinar on U.S.-Sudanese Academic Partnerships in early May, moderated by IIE Executive Vice President Maxmillian Angerholzer III, which featured experts from IIE, the U.S. Embassy in Sudan, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Sudan. Speakers assessed the current higher education landscape in Sudan and discussed opportunities for increasing academic partnerships with institutions in the United States.
