NEW YORK, November 30, 2016—The Institute of International Education has elected Maxmillian Angerholzer III, Calvin G. Butler Jr., and Colleen Goggins to its Board of Trustees. Each will serve a three-year term as Trustees of the Institute. IIE is the world leader in designing strategies and implementing programs that advance scholarship, promote access to education, and build economies. IIE manages programs of study and training for students, educators, young professionals and trainees from all sectors with funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporations around the world, including the flagship Fulbright Program and Gilman Scholarships for the U.S. Department of State.
An independent not-for-profit organization founded in 1919, IIE is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees who bring a diverse set of skills from leadership positions in colleges and universities, financial institutions, government agencies and organizations.
Maxmillian Angerholzer III serves as President and CEO of the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) in Washington, DC. CSPC is a non-partisan policy organization established in 1965, which applies lessons of leadership and history to current domestic and international challenges and promotes cooperation between The White House, Congress, and the private sector. He is also Managing Director of the Richard Lounsbery Foundation, a New York philanthropic institution that awards grants primarily in science and technology policy, education, international relations, and security. Mr. Angerholzer holds a Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) in Political Science from The University of the South in Sewanee, TN and a Master of Arts from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. Mr. Angerholzer joins IIE’s Board of Trustees after years of dedicated service to the IIE-Scholar Rescue Fund.
Calvin G. Butler Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), an Exelon Company, where he is responsible for BGE’s successful execution of the company’s six key areas: safety, reliability, customer service, financial performance, innovation and technology and diversity and inclusion. This year, BGE marked its 200th anniversary as the country’s first gas utility. Mr. Butler currently serves on the Boards of Directors for RLI Corp and several prominent Baltimore-based organizations including the Baltimore Community Foundation, the University of Maryland Medical Center, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, the Maryland Zoological Society (Maryland Zoo in Baltimore) and the Enoch Pratt Free Library. Mr. Butler earned a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and a Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, MO.
Colleen Goggins serves as a Non-Executive Director for a number of boards across a variety of industries. She has been a Director for the TD Bank Group since 2012 and is a member of the Board’s Risk Committee. She also serves on an Advisory Board for SIG Combibloc, based in Zurich. Ms. Goggins was a member of Johnson & Johnson’s Executive Committee for ten years and served as Worldwide Chairman of the J&J Consumer Group, providing strategic leadership for its fully integrated personal and healthcare portfolio. Ms. Goggins is actively involved with a number of non-profit organizations, including NY Citymeals on Wheels, where she serves on the Board of Directors, and the University of Wisconsin Foundation, where she is a member of the Executive Committee and chairs the Budget and Personnel Committee. She holds a Masters of Management from the Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
