Administered by IIE, the PDPI (Programa de Desenvolvimento Profissional para Professores de Lingua Inglesa nos EUA) program was part of the Brazilian government’s strategic plan to improve English language teaching and teacher training in all states in Brazil. The purpose of the six-week program was to bring high school English teachers to US universities for in-service English language study and practice in English teaching methodology, as well as exposure to US society and culture.
