IIE’s Afghanistan Crisis Response
Less than one week after the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban in August 2021, IIE launched a coordinated, organization-wide Afghanistan Crisis Response. We leveraged our existing programs, infrastructure, and networks to deploy rapid emergency assistance for students, scholars, and artists at risk.
Since the launch of IIE’s Afghanistan Crisis Response, allies like you have:
- Helped over 100 Afghan students on more than 60 U.S. campuses access immediate aid through IIE’s Emergency Student Fund
- Ensured seven Afghan artists reached safety in Canada, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the U.S. through IIE’s Artist Protection Fund
- Supported more than 50 Afghan scholars and civil society leaders to secure safe placements through IIE’s Scholar Rescue Fund
- Provided educational opportunities to over 20 refugee and displaced Afghan students who received full funding to pursue degrees at IIE university partners around the world through IIE’s Odyssey Scholarship
Help protect our future leaders and preserve knowledge by supporting the students, scholars, and artists under threat in Afghanistan with a contribution to IIE’s Afghanistan Crisis Response.
