Japan IMF Scholarship Program

To date, more than 150 Japanese nationals have received a scholarship through the Japan-IMF Scholarship program to study at universities outside of Japan, with the goal of becoming IMF economists. The list below includes universities that have hosted JISP scholars in the past and universities that are looking to host JISP scholars in the future. All of the universities listed below have high-level economics programs that are well-suited for preparation to become an economist at the IMF.

Many recipients choose to study in the United States, but the Japan-IMF Scholarship award can be applied towards study in many countries.

The Japan-IMF Scholarship Program is a unique program designed to support Japanese scholars who wish to work as practicing macroeconomic experts at the IMF. It is administered by the IMF Institute for Capacity Development in collaboration with the Institute of International Education (IIE) in the United States.
