Abstract:  Albanian language is a low-resource language making it difficult for various AI models to use it. Therefore developing AI tools for the Albanian language becomes challenging, as there are no datasets or developed language models for it. In this context, the project aims to develop several datasets for the Albanian language, to build and design AI models that can be used by relevant stakeholders. The working team intends to enable capacity building through different activities.

This project will consider EU legislation related to AI to ensure that these technologies improve human well-being and are used in fair and respectful ways.

Abstract:  This project addresses the critical issue of Second-Generation Return and Onward Mobilities, a key challenge within Albania’s significant migration phenomenon. Aligned with UNYT’s strategic priorities, it seeks to explore the societal and national implications of migration through rigorous academic engagement. In collaboration with a distinguished diaspora expert, the initiative follows a two-fold strategy: organizing insightful lectures and seminars on second-generation migration and diaspora mobilities and publishing a scholarly article in a prestigious journal to enhance research in this domain. Ultimately, the project aspires to establish a research hub at UNYT, fostering future initiatives focused on migration and the Albanian diaspora.

Abstract:  Producing food with the highest safety standards has become increasingly important in Albania towards EU accession. One big challenge of food safety is the lack of expertise in the primary production, especially in feed safety that affects animal health, and both play an enormous impact on food safety. This proposed research is based on the concept of “farm to fork” analyzing the food-dairy chain and the quality of the final production. This project idea will be implemented for the first time in Albania and will focus on silage feed quality and its relationships with cow health and milk safety standards.
