IFP Regional Roundtables

The IFP Roundtable Series brings together IFP alumni, the Ford Foundation, local researchers, and critical stakeholders on social justice topics of mutual interest and importance. The following locations have hosted IFP Regional Roundtables.

IIE hosted the IFP India Regional Roundtable in New Delhi, India, on April 6, 2023.

Throughout the last three years, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have impacted communities across India and have brought concerns of uncertainty and vulnerability. The pandemic brought urgent needs to the forefront while simultaneously exposing deep-seated issues of inequality in areas such as quality education, health, and climate change. The role of community leaders, such as IFP alumni, has been critical to respond to the moment. From different perspectives and across various industries, the IFP India Regional Roundtable featured IFP alumni leaders who have tackled the pandemic’s impacts by supporting their communities and reimagining the systems and structures critical for just and equitable recovery.

IIE and the Ford Foundation hosted the IFP Kenya Regional Roundtable in Nairobi, Kenya, on July 27, 2023. 

Advancing socially conscious leadership that facilitates transformation and social change has been at the heart of the Ford Foundation’s 60 years in East Africa. This IFP Regional Roundtable in Kenya discussed the legacy and impact of programs like IFP and emergent programs like the Ford Global Fellows Program that focus on social justice leaders who support their communities and reimagine the systems and structures critical for society to flourish. In Kenya, local and national leaders and civil society actors across sectors and industries have contributed to social action in different ways. The event brought together IFP, FGF, and other social justice leaders to share their respective roles in furthering social change and leadership to respond to myriad imperatives, including livelihoods, quality education, gender, health, environment, and the rule of law.

IIE and the Ford Foundation hosted the IFP Peru Regional Roundtable in Lima, Peru, on October 26, 2023. 

The IFP Regional Roundtable in Peru discussed the legacy and impact of programs like IFP, as well as emergent programs that focus on social justice leaders who support their communities and reimagine the systems and structures critical for society to flourish. The event featured IFP alumni and social justice leaders in Peru, their lived experiences and the needs of their communities, and how they have leveraged their fellowships to strengthen their skills and knowledge in diverse topics and take active roles in addressing problems that affect critical issues in Peru.

On January 22, 2024, IIE and the Ford Foundation collaborated to host the IFP Mexico Regional Roundtable in Mexico City.

This forum delved into the lasting effects and influence of initiatives like IFP. The event showcased IFP alumni and influential social justice figures in Mexico, shedding light on their personal experiences, community needs, and the strategic use of their fellowship experience to bolster their expertise across diverse subjects. These leaders actively contribute to addressing challenges that impact critical issues of Mexico’s social landscape.
