Former Chief Operating Officer and Head of Strategy and Business Development, ICE Canyon LLC

Laya Khadjavi is formerly Chief Operating Officer and Head of Strategy and Business Development at ICE Canyon, a global investment management firm specializing in Emerging Markets and Global Credit. At ICE Canyon, Laya was responsible for formulating the Firm's long-term corporate and business development strategies. Prior to joining ICE Canyon in 2012, Laya was Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. She joined Morgan Stanley in 1988 and held a succession of senior positions at the Firm, including Global Head of Markets Group in Global Wealth Management, Global Head of Collateralized Debt Obligations, Co-Head of North America Finance Group, and Co-Head of North America Structured Transactions Group in the Institutional Securities Group. Laya began her career as a financial analyst at Salomon Brothers in 1984.

Laya is a graduate of Brown University (B.S. in Applied Mathemathics-Economics and B.A. in French Literature) and Columbia Business School (M.B.A.). Laya is a member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of IIE’s Special Events and Advancement Committee. She is a member of Brown University’s Women Leadership Council (WLC) and the University’s Middle East Studies’ Board of Advisors. Laya also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Iranian-American Women Foundation. In 2008, Laya received The Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award.
