Kristy McCarthy
senior vice president, chief human resources officerKristy McCarthy serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer at the Institute of International Education (IIE), where she leads the organization’s global HR strategy and operations. With oversight of talent management and development, talent acquisition, total rewards, payroll, HR systems, compliance, and organizational effectiveness, Ms. McCarthy plays a pivotal role in shaping IIE’s people-first culture and aligning HR initiatives with strategic goals.
Since joining IIE in 2016, Ms. McCarthy has advanced through several leadership roles, bringing a strong focus on operational excellence and employee engagement. Prior to IIE, she spent over nine years at the American Institutes for Research (AIR), where she held progressive positions in recruitment, HR business partnership, and project management.
Ms. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Management from Shippensburg University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The George Washington University. She is based in Washington, D.C.
