Programs

IIE’s programs are characterized by a commitment to excellence, diversity, and technical innovation:

Scholarship and Fellowship Management

Fulbright Student and Scholar Programs, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), promote mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and India. Throughout the program’s history, IIE has worked closely with ECA and the United States and the India Educational Foundation (USIEF) to facilitate Fulbright exchanges between the U.S. and India. To date, the program has awarded over 1,500 grants to U.S. scholars and students to study in India and has distributed over 5,000 grants to Indian students to study and conduct research in the United States.

Khalifa University International Graduate Student Program (KUIGSP) provides the opportunity for Indian STEM students from top universities to pursue a fully funded Masters or PhD program at KU, Abu Dhabi. KU seamlessly integrates research and education to produce leaders and critical thinkers in applied science and engineering—paving the way to help shape the 21st-century economy through innovation. Join a vibrant community of students from over 50+ countries at a university that is setting the highest standards for global research-intensive institutions.

Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) is a private university with its main campuses in New Jersey. Founded in 1942, FDU currently offers more than 100 individual degree programs to its students. In addition to its two campuses in New Jersey, the university also has a campus in Canada, a campus in the United Kingdom, and an online platform. FDU is New Jersey’s largest private institution of higher education, with over 12,000 students.

The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi, is a graduate-level, research-based academic institution that offers specialized degree programs for local and international students in the field of Artificial Intelligence. MBZUAI aims to support the advancement of scientific research, development, transfer, and use of Artificial Intelligence through the introduction of MSc and Ph.D. programs that allow students to fulfill their intellectual potential in a state-of-the-art environment.

Cargill Global Scholarship Program provides support, leadership development and mentorship opportunities for high achieving students studying engineering and technology in select countries, including India. The program has supported more than 70 scholars in India, from institutions such as IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai, Delhi Technological University, and the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra.

Avery Dennison Foundation Spirit of Invention (InvEnt) Scholarship Program is designed to recognize and reward invention, innovation and excellence in high-achieving students studying STEM at selected higher education institutions in India and China. The program has awarded 80 scholarships in India.

Advancing Access to Education for Women and Girls

Women Enhancing Technology (WeTech) is a consortium of dedicated partners that is led by IIE to design and support a series of innovative activities to provide training, build networks and offer professional opportunities. In India, WeTech supported an after-school program where high school girls learn how to build mobile applications and compete in a global competition. IIE also leads corporate-funded scholarship, internship, and mentorship programs in India for female university students in STEM.

Higher Education Internationalization & Partnership Building

International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP). As the number two ranked country for sending students to the U.S., and among the top 20 destinations for U.S. students, India continues to play an important role for the U.S. higher education community. In July 2011, the governments of India and the U.S. announced the 21st Century Knowledge Initiative, a bilateral effort to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships between American and Indian institutions of higher education.

EducationUSA. IIE assists the U.S. Department of State in managing the Regional Education Advising Coordinators (REACs) who work with the more than 400 EducationUSA Centers in 175 countries worldwide, including seven in India. REACs help advisers provide prospective students with resources, workshops, and information on studying in accredited postsecondary institutions in the United States. EducationUSA also provides services to the U.S. higher education community to help institutional leaders meet their recruitment and campus internationalization goals.

Assistance in Developing Community Colleges in India. IIE collaborated with the U.S. Embassy in Delhi to foster U.S.-India dialogue on potential benefits and challenges associated with implementing the U.S. community college model in India. Activities included organizing a capacity building study visit to select U.S. community colleges for Indian educators and administrators of community colleges in India.
